Geethanjali

Geethanjali is a National Award winning 1989 Telugu Film directed by Mani Ratnam. The film opens on a college convocation day where Prakash (Nagarjuna) a carefree, mischievous guy is enjoying himself when he suddenly meets with an accident. Although the accident is only minor, during medical tests, he is diagnosed with terminal cancer and has no chance of survival more than a few months. Unable to hear his mother's constant crying, he packs his bags and leaves to live in his family's vacation home in Ooty for a few weeks.

This National Award winning film under the category Best English Film 2010 written by and starring internationally renowned director Ritupano Ghosh depicts the story of a bereaved mother, dumbstruck by the news of an accidental death of her 28-year-old son, who comes to Kolkata to carry out the last rituals and carry his belongings back to Delhi. Her three-day stay in Kolkata in her dead son's apartment laden with memories and her interaction with his office colleagues makes her realise that the ownership of her son's belongings, tangible or otherwise, which she claimed to be exclusively hers, is actually ubiquitous, distribution among all his friends and acquientances - so much so that it can't be packed and moved away
